Criterion 8.

demonstrate in practice their knowledge and understanding of how ākonga learn

 

Key indicators

i.  enable ākonga to make connections between their prior experiences and learning and their current learning activities

ii.  provide opportunities for ākonga to engage with, practise and apply new learning to different contexts

iii. encourage ākonga to take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour

iv. assist ākonga to think critically about information and ideas and to reflect on their learning

 

 

JUSTIFICATIONS RTC 8

  • The Weekly plan (T2, 2015 09NAL) is derived from the Unit Plan. The plans are based on the diagnostic testing which shows the areas of concern for the students in the class. The planning enables for prior planning which is divided into a six week module and highlights on the important topics that needs to be covered.

 

 

 

 

 

  • Inorder to make connections with the akonga, I make reflections based on what I cover over a period of time. The reflection from the Literacy Module for Year 9 class shows the strategies that I used and some suggestions about the changes that can be done for the module to be delivered effectively.

 

 

 

 

 

  • This lesson provided students with the opportunity to take ownership of their own learning. The schedule allowed students to track their progress

  • This lesson provided opportunity for students think critically and make connections with the text. This text related to the students as it was based on sports and students were able to relate it to their own lives.
